The redesigned standard.co.uk website is now built around the news stories that mean most to Londoners. Whilst the site will still offer in depth coverage of major UK and World news stories, the focus is on City Hall and other local topics of specific interest in the capital. Business coverage will now focus on the City of London, whilst sport’s stories will be dominated by inside news from London’s major sporting teams and events.

  • A new Homepage with improved usability and a clearer navigation to showcase the best of the rich content that the London Evening Standard produces

  • ‘Hot Topics’ and ‘Most Read’ to take readers directly to the most popular sections and stories on the site

  • A new Life and Style channel to give readers the chance to catch up with the best content from ES Magazine alongside additional travel, health and beauty and fashion features

  • Twitter feeds from the site’s main channels to ensure visitors can access up to the minute news and views at a time that suits them

  • A brand new Showbiz channel, featuring celebrity news, as well as pictures and the latest from the capital’s party scene and the fashion world

Interactivity is key and over 2,000 user comments are submitted to the site every week. standard.co.uk allows users to publish their comments alongside articles, as well as participating in daily debates and voting in the daily poll, the results of which are publsihed both online and in the newspaper.

The site also hosts columnist pages from the Evening Standard's team of journalists including Will Self and Brian Sewell as well as blogs on topics such as science and technology, health, consumer affairs and London politics.
